Curiously, this writer without any previously conceived notion, included also the marriage ages of Gorge V, Edward VII and Edward VIII in a slightly longer list. Then they were excluded as these royals wedded in 1865, 1841 and 1894 respectively. Edward VIII although married (age 40) in 1937, abdicated. And as the other 2 were married during the previous century, they were taken out of the reckoning (marriage ages 28 and 21)
Let’s forget the fancy statistical concept of median.
It just seems whichever way you slice it, we come out with an average of 28, Prince William’s present age. Had he too been playing around with some numbers when he announced the probably age at which he might wed? Or is there some inexorable historical law at work here. Regardless of the facts – which none of us can know – the intensity of public interest at this time is most understandable
