What America really cares about Prince William and his commitment (in general)?
Or is it the Media try to do more than it is? Is anyone that surprised that he and Kate got engaged after all these years? I just wondering, because I want to know more opinions.
Many Americans do. Many Americans value the institution of monarchy in the UK in general. Although very few of us want a monarchy in our Republic, or who wish to be governed from London these days, we cherish our connection to our motherland and love of British culture and pulls. A royal wedding is a wonderful spectacle and a celebration of our English traditions. Note that you do not to be a WASP in the United States, or a descendant of Mayflower, a large number of American Anglophiles loved Princess Diana and want to see her son happy and we are delighted Prince William has grown up to be (using the American term) "normal" and apparently without snobbery and class. Most Americans consider themselves "middle class" (note middle class United States States is a broader term that in the United Kingdom and includes nurses hospitals for example), and we are delighted that Kate appears to be as open and honest, "normal" too unlike their parents, many Americans are delighted that William and Kate seems to be very much in love. So to answer your question, many Americans, tens of millions will watch the royal wedding and we look forward to William and Kate.
